Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar today announced to setup green field projects and revive the sick sugar mills of Bihar with the help of state government.
Accompanied by the private investors and well known entrepreneurs keen to invest in the sugar industry in Bihar, Mr Pawar, who arrived here this morning, held a special meeting with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and senior authorities of the state and reviewed the formalities for setting up new industries.
After the meeting, Mr Pawar told newspersons here that the private investors were keen to install new projects as well in the revival of the old ones which were in the Moribund state.
He disclosed that three private investors, including Hindustan Bajaj, Rajshree and Dhoompun, have submitted their proposal for investing here in the Sugar industry.
He said the owners and authorities of all the three companies have arrived here along with him. He elaborated that Rajshree company had given three proposals in which they would install new sugar industries in Bara-Chakiya and Motipur while in Muzaffarpur it would set up a green field project capable of producing power and alcohol besides sugar. Hindustan Bajaj was interested in installation of new sugar mills in Gopalganj and Champaran.
Reiterating his committment for revival of sugar industries of the state, Mr Pawar hoped at least five to six new sugar mills would be set up in Bihar this year for which the state government will have to seriously finish the ground work apart from providing the basic infrastructure.
