
Bihar to have national law university Patna, May 23: Bihar government today gave its approval to set up a national law university in the state capital.Chanakya National Law University will start functioning from the end of this year, Cabinet Sercetary A K Chouhan told reporters after a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.The university will be solely dedicated to imparting legal services and education, he said adding the government would soon come out with an Act for setting up the university and also preapre the rules and regulations for the university.Initially, a sum of Rs 1.63 crore has been sanctioned for acquiring land and construction of a building for the NLU, he said adding the university would function from the A N Sinha Institute of Social Sciences (ANSISS) till the construction of its building."Till the building is completed, the government will take one floor or two on rent. The board of ANSISS has already accepted the proposal of taking its accomodation on rent," Chouhan said.The government will seek the approval from University Grants Commission (UGC) to set up the university, he said.
