
Nitish honour veteran lawyers
Patna, May 13: Fifteen veteran lawyers of Bihar, who were practising for more than 60 years, were honoured here at a function here today.Oldest among them was Bajrang Bahadur Sinha (101), who joined the bar in 1934 and is still practising in Patna city court, while the youngest was Tarkeshwar Nath Sinha (91), who joined the bar at Madhubani in 1946. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, his Haryana counterpart Bhupendra Singh Hooda and Chief Justice of Patna High Court J N Bhatt attended the function. "I am touched and full of admiration for these valuable gifts to the society. We salute them for the good services they have rendered to the society," Kumar said addressing a function organised by Bihar State Lawyers' Association. Stating that his government was committed to establishing the rule of law in the state, Kumar said that the lawyers have an important role in it. The Bihar CM said that his government would provide all necessary assistance for strengthening the judicial infrastructure in the state.
--------------------------Nitish said government has already earmarked a sum of Rs 20 crore for setting up a national law school in Patna.
