Nitish opts for direct dialling

Bihar CM will call up people for feedback on development projects in the state

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar plans to speak directly to the people to get feedback on various developmental projects in the state. The chief minister’s secretariat is busy preparing a voluminous telephone directory that will have names and telephone numbers of people at the village, block and panchayat level, the CM's principal secretary R C P Singh said in Patna on Sunday. The CM would pick a number at random from the directory and seek details about ‘actual’ implementation of welfare programmes, like preparation of red cards for people living below the poverty line, distribution of kerosene oil, Antayodya Foodgrain Schemes and other programmes. The objective of the exercise is to go beyond official statistics and get a true picture of the functioning of the government from the beneficiaries themselves.
