RANDHIR KUMAR : IAS Topper (AIR -3) from BIHAR

Last Year , he was MANISH THAKUR from Bhagalpur/Banka who opt CIVIL SERVICEs and to Serve BIHAR rather than taking jobs at MANHATTAN STREETs ,

This Year he is RANDHIR KUMAR , a graduate from ISM , DHANBAD who ranked 3rd in most prestigious job in INDIA , CIVIL SERVICEs IAS . It was his third attempt . Earlier he was employed with TATA group and last year he left TATA group to take Civil Services Exams .

He said " Certainly , I will go for BIHAR cadre and BIHAR is having maximum potential to grow and I will be delighted to serve BIHAR " .

As is evident from the case of Randhir Kumar. A BTech from Indian
School of Mines, Dhanbad, Randhir resigned from his job in Tata Steel in 2004, to prepare for the civil services. Kumar, who is placed third on the merit list, cleared the examination in his third attempt. On being asked why he quit a cushy job in the corporate world to pursue a career in the civil services, he said: ‘‘There was always this motivation to work in the larger interest of the society, and the best way to achieve my dream was to pursue a career in the civil services.’’ Kumar feels that the role of a civil servant has gone frombeing just an administrator to manager-cum-administrator. ‘‘The role of a civil servant is to manage a district, state and different government departments. A civil servant is also provided with autonomy to serve people,’’ he added. He plans to opt for his parent cadre — Bihar, and bring about growth and development in the state. ‘‘Bihar has a lot of potential to become one of the most dynamic states, and I want to be a part of that process of transformation,’’ he said.
