PATNA: The three Central teams on power sector on Friday concluded their joint wrap-up meeting with state energy minister and officials after holding brainstorming sessions with officials to develop roadmap for the energy sector in the state on long-term basis. The 11-member team will leave for New Delhi on Saturday morning. Later, talking to mediapersons here on Friday, BSEB member (revenue) Ajit Kumar and member (distribution and rural electrification) Swapan Mukherjee said that the teams were satisfied with their visit. On the basis of their assessment, the teams will submit their detailed report to the Planning Commission for inclusion in the Central plan budget. They also said that Bihar has projected its 11,150 MW power demand by the 2012 AD in view of the development in various sectors including industry, hospitals, sugar and education in another five years. The team, aiccording to them, initially did not agree to the proposal of the increased power demand by 2012 AD but after meeting a cross section of people, they agreed to it. They also said that Bihar has also projected its per capita availability of electricity by 1000 units by the year 2012. Keeping in view these facts, BSEB has also decided to install some new power plants to meet its future power requirement. During their three-day stay in the state, the teams visited Bihar's two power generating plants at Muzaffarpur and Barauni. They also held talks with cross section of people including representatives of Bihar Industries Association and Bihar Chamber of Commerce. Three high-powered Central teams arrived here on Wednesday. The teams held separate meetings with officials of the state energy department, Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) and Bihar Hydroelectric Power Corporation (BHPC). The team also visited two hydroelectric power project sites at Indrapuri (Dehri-on-Sone) and Barun in Aurangabad on Thursday for an on-the-spot inspection.
