Beggar in BIHAR , India has life insurance

She is among the teeming masses instead of the mass affluent, but Sarvatia Devi would be deemed an ideal client by many financial advisers.
On the advice of her insurance agent, Ms. Devi, a beggar in Patna, India, purchased two life insurance policies with $9,200 in combined limits, according to the Indo-Asian News Service.
The average annual income in India is about $480, according to England’s University of Newcastle upon Tyne, so those limits are impressive.
Ms. Devi also reportedly has two savings accounts, owns a house in the central part of the city, and supports her family by begging in the marketplace and local temples. On a good day, she collects about $9.
A widow in her 50s who is blind in one eye, Ms. Devi has a steady stream of benefactors who have known her for more than 20 years and regularly give her alms, according to the news report.
