Mahila Udyog Sangh launches website

Bihar Mahila Udyog Sangh on Monday launched their own website to step forward in the realm of net marketing. Minister of science and technology Anil Kumar, who inaugurated the website, said the government will try to provide as much assistance as possible to the Sangh. He also appreciated the fine work that the Sangh was doing for the past 12 years. CGM, State Bank of India, D K Jain, who was also present on the occasion, said the SBI would extend cooperation to the Sangh whenever needed. “The website will enable our organisation to display and sell our products in the national and international market. Bihar although rich in crafts is unrecognised in India as well as abroad. Mithila painting and Tikuli craft, which originated in Bihar, is still to get a proper market,” said Sangh president Pushpa Chopra. The website, containing 29 pages, will give a detailed account of the crafts made by the Sangh members. These crafts include pottery, embroidery, oil painting, fabric painting, Mithila painting, Tikuli craft, dress making and food items. Moreover, the website will also give the name and numbers of all our members, said Chopra. The Sangh aims to provide employment opportunities to all the women of Bihar. For this purpose, it will organise a seminar-cum-workshop at Magadh Mahila College on August 25 and train the students to “earn while learning”. Sangh members will teach the students five crafts during the workshop, said Sangh secretary Usha Jha. It is very sad to know that in spite of the good work that the Sangh is doing, it does not receive any assistance from the authorities. “We do not even own a proper office for conducting our work,” added Chopra.
