Patna, (Bihar Times): After reputed hotels of the country it is the turn of the international hotel chain to focus their attention on the tourist resort in Bihar, especially those related to Buddhist pilgrim centres.
Carlton International, hotel and resort group, has purchased a plot of land to set up a resort at Bodh Gaya. The chairman of the Carlton, Fred Braida, was at the BSTDC office in Patna on Friday to discuss the project. He also met the deputy chief minister, Sushil Kumar Modi.
According to the chairman-cum-managing director of the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC), Rashmi Verma, tourist spots in the state have started drawing attention of international hotel groups as Buddhist pilgrim cemtres are popular throughout the world. Mahabodhi Temple is already in UNESCO’s World Heritage List. This has increased the foreign tourists inflow.
Media reports say that film-maker Prakash Jha also appears to be interested in such a venture in Bodh Gaya.
