E-gazette on the cards

PATNA: The state government would soon start electronic publication of the Bihar gazette, e-gazette, which would be available on the Bihar government's website. The e-gazette would make possible the publication of government notifications, Acts, rules, pledges, and orders within five to seven days of their issuance.

Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi announced this move after holding a meeting in this regard with officials of finance, commercial taxes and information technology departments.

During the meeting, which was chaired by Modi, additional finance secretary Arunish Chawla said that any new edition of the Bihar gazette would be there on the state government website within a week. Earlier, the process of publication of the Bihar gazette was very slow due to the manual printing at the Secretariat Printing Press of the finance department.

Commercial taxes principal secretary Shubhkirti Mazumdar said that by August 15 this year, businessmen residing in all commercial taxes circles in the state would have the facility to file e-returns, make e-payments of their commercial taxes and get e-registration done sitting at home. He said that Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has already created and operationalised the software for commercial transactions and registration through the state government website in 18 commercial taxes circles of Bihar, including eight commercial taxes circles in Patna district.

The rest of the commercial circles in the state would be linked to this network by August 15, he said adding that TCS had already prepared such softwares in all circles of Patna and different circles in Hajipur, Nalanda, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Bhagalpur, Buxar and Bhojpur districts.
