Jamshedpur: Tata Relief Committee (TRC), formed by Tata Group of Companies to help people in major disasters, will construct 50 semi-permanent relief shelters in the flood-affected areas of Bihar. The process of construction was expected to start within one week's time, a Tata Steel press release said here on Tuesday. Tata Shaktee Sheets and Tata MS Pipes, worth several crores of rupees, are being despatched from Jamshedpur for construction of the shelter, the release said. Earlier the domestic major had talks with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to assist the state government in rehabilitation and company's Managing Director B Muthuraman has asked TRC to build 50 semi-permanent shelters in the affected areas. The company will help the government in rehabilitation and reconstruction work in the affected villages of Bihar, the release said. Meanwhile, a task force has been formed by the company under the leadership of Rituraj, Chief of Corporate Relations, Tata Steel. The seven-member team comprising senior officials will monitor and co-ordinate the relief work till the situation necessitated. Earlier, the company had made an appeal to its employees to volunteer to travel to the affected sites and lend a helping hand in the relief activities undertaken to help the homeless. The response to the appeal has been phenomenal with approximately 100 employees coming forward to help in relief work in Bihar.
