Employment Opportunity

Given below is a message  from Sri Ravi Verma of US. He will be in Katihar during the first week of February 2009 for organizing a job fair cum aptitude testing for IT people. Pl. take advantage and may give a wide coverage so that it reaches those who need it most. This needs to be appreciated as a positive action towards solving the problem of employment and wealth generation for Biharis.

I expect many more to make offers like this.

Dr.V.N.Sharma

Dear Friends,

Several of us have been emotional about the plight of our fellow Biharis
in Maharashtra. The outrage against the events of Maharashtra have been
widespread from all corners. There is a troubling question that people
from outside Bihar ask, "Why do millions of people of Bihar migrate to
other states for livelihood?".

Migration of Bihari workers to other states is an age old phenomenon.
One would wish that overnight we could have economic activity on a
scale in Bihar that would eliminate the need for Biharis to venture into
hostile territories like Maharashtra. That is a long shot and may take
few decades. A lot of times, such enormity of task can be discouraging.
But we have to make a start somewhere. Non-resident Biharis are well
placed to do something for Bihar.

Let us harness the emotion and make a fresh start. No effort is too
small and an ounce of action is better than a ton of good intentions. It
would be nice to set up a semiconductor plant in Bihar. For now, a low
cost food processing unit would do. With availability of DSL, it is
possible to have a small software development center in every town in
Bihar. That is what I am doing in Katihar since 2005.

I am proposing the following. I offer to work with each individual to
mentor and support in any way I can.

1. Each of one of us proposes an activity at our place of choice. I hope
there will be many who would choose a place beyond Patna.

2. Let us meet. Dr. Ajay Jha or Colorado and I are organizing a job fair
cum aptitude testing in Katihar during the first week of February 2009.
Because of our respective background in IT and Agro-Business, we will be
testing people of aptitude these areas. We plan to collect resumes and
help the graduating BCAs and MCAs find jobs. A lot of the kids are
talented but get left behind because of poor command over English.

If you are in IT, I plead with you to find time and come to this
meeting. I will be your host. Please RSVP.

Let us prove our love for Bihar.

Regards.
