RJD leader shot dead

Chapra , Jan 23 Unidentified gunmen shot dead a RJD leader in Bihar&aposs Saran district when he was travelling by a motorcycle last night in a suspected fall-out of dispute over construction contract, police said today.
Hashmatullah Khan alias Bhooan Mian, aged about 40 years, was shot dead near a pond at Tujarpur under Khaira police station around when he was on his way to district headquarter town Chapra .

Khan&aposs body was recovered from a field this morning.

Police suspect dispute over construction contracts could have led to the murder of Khan, former head of Sakiyan panchayat.

Hundreds of locals blocked Chapra - Marhaura road for over three hours this morning in protest against the killing but lifted the blockade after the local administration assured them of prompt action to apprehend the culprits.

No arrest has been been so far, sources said.
