Striking staff plan mass contact programme

PATNA: Protesting the state government's stand that it was already spending a huge sum on salaries, striking non-gazetted employees of Bihar have
now decided to launch a mass contact programme to make people aware of their stand over the issue.

"People must get the real picture," said Manjul Kumar Das, general secretary of Bihar State Non-Gazetted Employees Federation (BSNGEF), on Sunday.

Member of BSNGEF, BSNGEF (Gope faction) and Bihar Secretary Services Association among others proceeded on indefinite strike from January 7 following differences with the state government regarding modalities for extending benefits of the Sixth Pay Commission to the state government employees.

The striking employees have also refused to bend before the government's move of serving show-cause notices to them citing relevant rules of Government Servant Conduct Rules.

"There is no looking back for us unless the government calls us for an honourable negotiation," Das said and added that none of the striking employees had received the show-cause notices.

Meanwhile, highly placed sources in the secretariat said that the government was in no mood to hold parleys with the striking employees. "We have already set a committee to look into the salary related anomalies and arm-twisting by the striking employees would not be of any help," said sources.
