New Delhi, Feb 16: The Delhi High Court today sought a response from Bihar Government on a plea of jailed RJD MP Mohammed Shahabuddin seeking permission to attend the ongoing Parliament session.
The controversial MP is lodged in a jail in Siwan in Bihar where he is undergoing sentence of life imprisonment for abducting CPI(ML) worker Chhote Lal Gupta who went missing after abduction.
Advocate Rajeev Ranjan Singh, appearing for the MP, pleaded that he should be allowed to participate in the proceedings as his party colleague and MP Pappu Yadav, who is also undergoing life imprisonment in a separate case, has been allowed to attend the House.
Justice Ravinder Bhat, however, refused to pass an order saying that the MP is lodged in Bihar and an order cannot be passed without hearing the contentions of the state government.
The court issued the notice to the state government and listed the matter for further hearing on February 18.
Earlier, the Court had on February 10 allowed RJD MP Pappu Yadav, presently lodged in Tihar jail here, to attend the Parliament session.
