No quota for those with outside origin

PATNA: In a landmark judgment, Patna High Court on Thursday made it clear that children of state government employees, who have their origin in
other states, cannot claim reservation benefits in Bihar.

A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad and Shyam Kishore Sharma said this while quashing the appointment of Manoj Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar who had cleared the 26th judicial services examination, availing of reservation benefits. They claimed the benefits stating that their fathers have been working in Bihar for a very long period.

One Baleshwar Prasad Singh had filed a writ petition challenging their claims and stated that both of them originally belonged to Uttar Pradesh and not Bihar.
