Patna's Super 30 to be aired on Discovery channel

Patna (PTI): The success story of Super 30, pioneered by mathematician Anand Kumar who tutors poor students to help them to make it to prestigious IITs, would be shown on Discovery channel next month.

The one-hour documentary has captured all the aspects of the novel experiment of Super 30 started by Kumar seven years ago under the aegis of the Ramanujan School of Mathematics. The film, which has been shot over a year, shows how students develop confidence under the guidance of Kumar who set up the institute.

Discovery Channel's spokesman Rajiv Bakshi said "It is a very inspiring story which the people would certainly like to see and know. This is the reason the Discovery decided to screen a one hour documentary on the succesful experiment of Anand, which has shaped many lives."

The documentary produced by Veronica Hall and directed by Christopher Mitchell portrays Kumar's passion for mathematics since childhood, the loss of his father early in life and the lost opportunity to study in Cambridge University due to poverty.
