Patna-Ranchi car rally to begin on March 21

More than 25 rallyists from across the country will be seen in action in the 750 km long Patna-Ranchi 'Tata-Indicom car rally' which will be flagged off from here on March 21.
Organised under the banner of Magadh Motor Sports Club with financial and other assistance from Tata Teleservices, the rallyists would, for the first time, cover the 750 km long route via Nalanda, Koderma and Hazaribagh before reaching Ranchi the next day.
The rally, which would be held under the Time-Speed and Distance format, would cover 375 km on the first day, while the remaining distance would be covered during the next day with every car running at an average speed of 45 to 50 km per hour.
The winners cup - the 'Tata Indicom trophy' - would be handed over to the winning team on March 23, Tata Teleservices Limited Chief Operating Officer, Bihar Circle, Aasheesh Verma here informed here today.
He said though a large number of rallyists wanted to participate in the rally, the organisers had to keep the number of participants restricted because of logistic problems and keeping in mind the safety issue.
He said since the rally, covering 750 km, was being held for the first time in the state, they had kept ready more than ten back-up teams which would run along with the competitors in different cars to assist them enroute and help them in case of any eventuality, Mr Verma said.
A number of reputed rallyists from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Jharkhand and Bihar would participate in the exciting event, Mr Verma said.
