All-India United Muslim Morcha to support LJP, Left in Bihar

Patna (PTI): All India United Muslim Morcha (AIUMM) will extend its support to LJP and Left in Bihar in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.

Morcha national president M A Siddique told reporters that the AIUMM would support LJP candidates on a "priority basis".

Mr. Siddique said the Morcha would support the candidates of Left parties, comprising the CPI-ML, CPI(M) and CPI, in seats where the LJP has not fielded candidates.

"The Morcha will support Ram Vilas Paswan's LJP candidates as Paswan has been raising his voice for abolition and amendment of Article 341 which prohibits extending the status of Scheduled Caste on the basis of religion," Mr. Siddique said.

Mr. Siddique, however, made it clear that the Morcha would not support RJD candidates, alleging that during its 15 years of rule in the state, Muslims were the worst sufferers as the RJD government "deliberately did not take steps" to improve their lot.

The Morcha, he said, would also support NCP general secretary Tariq Anwar in Katihar. Congress has not fielded its candidate against Anwar.
