Bihar State Progressive Dental Association set up for helping dental doctors

PATNA: A new association, Bihar State Progressive Dental Association, was set up in the state capital on Sunday to highlight the problems of
dental doctors in Bihar.

Inaugurating the function, former Patna University VC S N P Sinha said that a separate dental university is the need of the hour. He said that at present there is not even an university for technical courses like medicine, dentistry or engineering.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Dr Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, a senior professor of Patna Medical College, said that at present there is not even a single seat for postgraduate dental training in Bihar. He said that not even a single dental doctor has been trained to handle diseases.

Mahavir Cancer Sansthan director Dr Jitendra Kumar Singh said that lack of proper dental outdoor at primary health centre is the major cause for rise in cancer cases in the state.

Progressive Dental Association convener Dr Kumar Gyanendra said that 80 per cent people of Bihar have dental problems and the association would educate the people about dental hygiene.
