PATNA: Governor R L Bhatia will inaugurate a two-day state conference, christened BAPICON 2009, of the Bihar chapter of Association of Physicians
India (API) on Saturday.
With the conference theme being "Clinical decision-making in medicine", the conference will witness discussions on increasing cost which patients and practitioners have to bear in wake of new investigation techniques being introduced in the medical field.
"This topic holds a special relevance in a state like Bihar where patients from peripheral areas find it hard to opt for advanced investigation techniques which come at a higher cost than the traditional methods of investigation," BAPICON organising secretary Dr Ajay K Sinha told the media on Friday.
A large number of physicians of national and international fame, including Dr Garima Shukla and Dr S K Agrawal of AIIMS, New Delhi, and Dr Vikram Sarabhai of Escorts, New Delhi, will take part in the conference.
Dr Sinha said that such conferences allow the medical fraternity of peripheral areas to know about the latest developments in the field of medical sciences.
