City boy to have a crack at Guiness records

PATNA: When Nikumbh Sir, the character Aamir Khan played in "Taare Zameen Par", wrote his name on the blackboard using reverse writing technique, students were awestuck. A Patna boy leaves not only children bewildered but even elders. Reason: He can write as many as 45 words in a minute using the reverse writing technique.

Deepak Shukla, who after completing schooling here, is now pursuing an engineering course at Manoharbhai Patel Institute of Engineering and Technology, Gondia (Nagpur).

Confident about his speed, Shukla now intends to set a world record in Hindi reverse writing and waiting for a call to prove his mettle before the agencies which give recognition to such unusual talents.

He has already taken the first step in this direction. "I was recently granted membership as a challenger for a record holding in the Guiness Book of World Record and subsequently in Limca Book of World Records," he told TOI on Sunday.

Having reverse scripted Mahatma Gandhi's autobiography "The Story of My Experiments with Truth" Part-I, Shukla is busy these days to complete work on the remaining two parts.

"It gives a lot of satisfaction as I'm working on somebody's work who for the whole world is a revered person," he said.

Sharing his passion for such an unusual thing, Shukla said he wanted to do something different right from the beginning and it was during Class X days that he got an idea to give a try to reverse writing.

"Once I joined the engineering college, I came to know about many people who could do simple things differently and this inspired me to develop the art of reverse writing," he said.

Shukla does not want to use his expertise for one language only and these days is also trying his hands to practice reverse scripting in Sanskrit and water image writing in English.

"God willing, I would attain good speed in these two things as well," Shukla said.
