Congress to go it alone in 2010 Assembly polls in Bihar: Ahmed

Patna (PTI) Asserting that its vote share had increased in the last general elections in Bihar, the Congress on Sunday said it would have no truck with Lalu Prasad's RJD in future in the state and would go it alone in the assembly polls due in 2010.

"Our vote share has increased to 11.04 per cent from four per cent in the last Lok Sabha polls which reflects that the party has started regaining moorings in Bihar," party spokesman Shakeel Ahmed said here.

"We have decided not to have any truck with RJD in Bihar in future and the party will go it all alone in the assembly elections in Bihar due in 2010 to dislodge the corrupt, ineffective and inefficient NDA regime," Mr. Ahmed said.

Launching a frontal attack on Lalu Prasad for allegedly ruining the electoral prospects of several Congress nominees in Bihar, Mr. Ahmed alleged that in fact, traditional voters of the party were "misled" by the RJD supremo at the fag end of electioneering for the Lok Sabha elections in Bihar.

"Lalu's oft-repeated statement that he together with Ramvilas Paswan of the RJD remain with the UPA and that Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh are unchallengeable leaders misguided the traditional voters of the Congress who became indecisive as to whether to vote for the party," he said.
