CPI assails nitish govt

PATNA: The CPI has expressed its serious concern over the sudden spurt in crime across the state. The party has assailed state government for its failure to check crime.

CPI state secretary Brajnandan Lal on Sunday said CM Nitish Kumar and the state government officials still appear to be enjoying an unprecedented victory of JD(U)-BJP combine in the state in 2009 Lok Sabha polls in Bihar, leaving people of the state at the mercy of criminals.

Lal said the abduction and subsequent killing of Satyam and kidnappings of Rajendra Das (Buddha Colony) on May 15, Satyendra Singh on May 23 in the state capital city and of film producer Brij Tak on May 19 from Patna airport has caused panic among people.

He said the very fact that the state capital witnessed incidents of successive loot on May 17,18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 30 is enough indication that it had once again become unsafe for the common people.

He has warned the CM, saying that if he failed to rise to the occasion to check the rising crime, the NDA would meet the same fate as the RJD.
