Explore new avenues to raise revenue collection: Bihar Dy CM

Patna , June 3 Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi has directed the senior officials of commercial taxes department to explore new avenues for raising revenue collection to keep the momentum of 23 per cent growth rate of revenue mobilisation.
Addressing the meeting of commissioners and assistant commissioners on Tuesday, Modi said the officers should explore new areas of revenue collection under their respective jurisdiction to achieve the growth rate of 23 per cent which has been consistant for last three years since 2006-07.

The commercial tax department has collected Rs 4,468.88 crore as against the target of Rs 4,570 crore for the year 2008-09, he said.

During 2007-08, the department had mopped up Rs 3,633.27 crore Modi said and added that momentum of 23 per cent growth rate was being maintained since 2006-07.

The finance minister expressed his displeasure on the performance of some districts -- Muzaffarpur, Nawada, Sahebganj, Forbesganj, Madhubani, Madhepura, Sasaram, Buxar, Munger and Bhagalpur -- as they have failed to achieve the target.
