CM directive for smooth Chhath festival

PATNA: CM Nitish Kumar on Tuesday held a meeting to review preparations being made for the Chhath festival and said that from the next year a


calender will be prepared by the urban development department and fund would be provided to it in advance. He reviewed the condition of ghats, water level of Ganga, condition of roads leading to various ghats, waterlogging, cleanliness and lighting arrangements.



Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, health minister Nand Kishore Yadav, local MLAs Arun Kumar and Nitin Navin, CM's secretaries S Sidharth and Chanchal Kumar, Patna commissioner Sunil Barthwal, PMC commissioner Senthil Kumar and DM Jeetendra Kumar Sinha attended the meeting.



It was pointed out that this year the water level of the Ganga has increased with heavy current in downstream. It was also demanded that special arrangements have to be made for the safety of the devotees. The commissioner and DM informed the CM that the identification of unsafe ghats has been started and necessary steps would soon be initiated.



The CM directed the health minister, two local MLAs, divisional ommissioner, WRD principal secretary, BSEB chairman and chief engineer of PESU, DM and civil surgeon to personally visit each ghat and review the situation on Wednesday morning. The team will suggest measures for better arrangements.
