JD-U leader’s Nalanda wish

Rajgir, Oct. 26 (PTI): Buoyed by Manmohan Singh raising the issue of revival of Nalanda University, chief minister Nitish Kumar said the move would also help prepare shantidoots.

“Steps taken for the university revival will not only boost education, but help boost peace,” Nitish said, addressing an event organised to celebrate 40 years of Vishwa Shanti Stupa.

He thanked former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and the Prime Minister for taking care for revival of the university.

The Prime Minister yesterday thanked east Asian countries for their help in reviving the university as a global institution for excellence. Singh made the statement in Thailand while addressing the Fourth East Asia Summit.
