PATNA: Patna district administration has clamped complete ban on production and sale of high sounding crackers during Deepawali. It has also banned exploding of crackers from 10 pm to 6 am.
Patna district magistrate (DM) B Rajender said Deepawali and Chhath festival would be observed from November 9 to November 17. He said several shops selling crackers come up during this period, including in lanes and bylanes and busy places. Crackers are stored in residential areas and in case of any eventuality, fire tenders cannot reach such places, he said.
Rajender directed the officials concerned to act tough against such illegal cracker sellers. He said there would be a complete ban on selling of crackers in lanes and bylanes and busy places. Even traders having valid licences would not sell crackers in open places, he said.
The DM said traders selling crackers should have at least two portable fire extinguishers to meet any eventuality. He ordered for the constitution of flying squads to conduct raids on illegal cracker sellers.
Rajender said a ban has been clamped on production and sale of high sounding crackers. No crackers would be used in silence zone, hospital, educational institutions, court premises, religious places or silence zone declared by the district administration.
