Three-day 'Rajgir festival' begins in Bihar


The three-day 'Rajgir festival' organised along the lines of the famous 'Khajuraho festival' began here on Tuesday. The festival is expected to woo domestic as well as foreign tourists and will showcase a Kathak ballet by Pandit Birju Maharaj and danseuse Sahswati Sen and Ghazals by Hariharan and Sugato Bhaduri. Besides, a host of artistes from different parts of the country are also expected to participate. Inaugurating the festival, Governor R S Gavai said it would provide the platform to showcase artistic talent both from within and outside the state. Chief Justice of Patna High Court J N Bhatt was among those present at the occasion. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar did not attend in view of the Nalanda parliamentary by-election on November six for which model code of conduct was already in force. Many foreign tourists, particularly from Buddhist countries like Japan, China, Thailand and Sri Lanka, are attending the festival.
