Patna: November 20, 2006
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on Monday, visited the state Health Department and reviewed its functioning to ensure officials were present on the duty and in fact were doing their work instead of just wasting their time.Kumar, while inaugurating the 102 Emergency Help Line, tested the much-touted system by making an anonymous call to the Emergency number saying Civil Surgeon Chandra Bhushan Singh was very sick and was in immediate need of an ambulance.Whether staged or not, the ambulance promptly arrived at the location mentioned by Kumar. The Chief Minister said he hoped the new 102 service would prove to be life saving for many patients in dire need of immediate medical assistance and asked the people to utilize this service whenever such an emergency arose. He also urged the people to report directly to him if they found any slack in the service.State Health Minister Chandramohan Rai and Civil Surgeon Singh was also present at the occasion.
