Governor Appoints 6 New Vice Chancellors

Former Vice Chancellor (VC) of Banaras Hindu University Dr. Y. C. Simhadri is the new VC of Patna University after Governor R. S. Gavai, on Monday, cleared the names of half a dozen new Vice Chancellors (VCs) for various universities in Bihar where the post had been vacant for a long time affecting the functioning of dozens of colleges.

Former Head of the Department, Political Science, L. N. D. College in Motihari under B. R. Ambedkar Bihar University has been asked to assume charge of the Magadh University while Dr. Mishri Lal Thakur, former Head of the Department, Physics, Tilka Manjhi University, Bhagalpur was made the VC of L. N. Mithila University, Darbhanga.

Also, former Head of the Department, Physics, Banaras Hindu University, Dr. Rampal Singh will now assume the charge of Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara, as its new Vice Chancellor.

The registrar of M.M.H. Arabic and Persian University, Patna, was made the VC of B. N. Mandal University, Madhepura, while Dr. Prema Jha, former Head of the Department, English, B. R. Ambedkar, Bihar University, was made the VC of Tilka Manjhi University, Bhagalpur.

While all the newly-appointed VCs will assume charges in their respective universities immediately, the new VC of Magadh University will take charge from December 8 when the term of the current VC expires, a Raj Bhawan memo said.
