'Bihar Govt keen to revamp technical education in Bihar' : Dr Anil Kumar


PATNA: Minister for science and technology Anil Kumar on Tuesday said that Bihar government was keen to revamp technical and science education in the state for which the Bihar Council for Science and Technology (BCST) is being revamped. Inaugurating a training workshop on "Science communication through cultural event" organised jointly by Shririshna Science Centre Patna and Kainat Foundation, Kako, Kumar said the construction of a software technology park would be completed by July 2007. He said BCST has virtually become defunct during last 15 years. He also said no new ngineering and polytechnic colleges were opened in the state during last 15 years but now the scene had changed. The minister said the state government had received a total 16 proposals for opening engineering and polytechnic colleges from private parties of which 11 proposals appear viable. He said the 11 proposals would materialise soon. Kumar said a large number of students from Bihar migrated to other states for technical education. "Not many people know that even in technical colleges of West Bengal 37 per cent students are from Bihar," he said. The minister said the state participated in the Infocom 2006 to refurbish the image of Bihar at the national level.National Council for Science and Technology (NCST) scientist Manoj Patwari, in his speech on the occasion, said creating a scientific temperament among the masses was a must and for this such workshops were needed.

It's High time that our governmet start delivering the promises.Construction work should start and there should be a defenitive deadline for college to be functional. we have miles to go as we have been left behind...
