PATNA: The state Cabinet in principle approved a Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) proposal on Thursday for setting up a steel processing unit at Sahdei in Vaishali district.The proposed unit's annual capacity would be one lakh tonne. SAIL on its own will purchase land for the plant directly from the farmers, state cabinet secretary Girish Shankar told newsmen after a Cabinet meeting. The Cabinet also okayed a proposal to give an additional incentive of Rs 1,000 per month to 8,463 panchayat rojgar sewaks. This amount would be in addition to the monthly remuneration of Rs 2,000 being paid to them, said Shankar. The state Cabinet also gave its nod for a formula for the distribution of backward area grant fund amount three-tier panchayati raj institutions. Taking a cue from the Union government, the state Cabinet okayed a proposal to set up a Centre for Public Policy and Finance to make suggestions to the state government on economic issues. The principal secretary (finance) would be its ex-officio chairperson and Shaibal Gupta, the member-secretary of Asian Development Research Institute, its director, said Shankar. The Cabinet also okayed Bihar Advertisement Policy 2008. Under the new rules, even internet websites would be eligible for getting government advertisements. The draft of annual financial report was also approved by the state Cabinet.
