One day HIV/AIDS Awareness Programme was organized in collaboration with Rotary Patliputra among the women residents of Bampher Tola. Dr Diwakar Tejaswi, Medical Director, RATNEI-IHO provided the necessary information to the residents in local dialect about HIV/AIDS and the importance of condom in prevention of HIV spread. He was surprised to note that more than 75% of local illiterate women residents had not even heard the name of HIV/AIDS. More than 60 women benefited during this awareness programme. They had shown their interest in knowing about this deadly infection. They asked several questions related to the topic. Dr Tejaswi answered their queries with examples.
On this occasion President of Rotary Patliputra Mr Anil Sharaf stressed the importance of such awareness programme in slum areas and among illiterate population. He also assured that Rotary Patliputra will help to organize awareness programme in different places including slums.
Those who were present on this occasion included Sri R K Jaiswal, Sri N K Agrawal and Ms Sunita Saraf from Rotary Patliputra.
