AP Verma appointed MD & CEO of SBI Capital Markets

Apart from UTI chief and IAS fNative of Gopalganj  Sri U K Sinha we have another feather in our cap in banking sector .

 

Mr. A. P. Verma has assumed charge as Managing Director & CEO of SBI Capital Markets Ltd., the investment banking subsidiary of State Bank of India (SBI), from Mr. R. Sridharan, who has moved to Corporate Center of SBI.

Mr. Verma has overall charge of SBICAP business operations, strategy, and marketing, including activities supported from the company's principal global offices.  With more than thirty-one years of banking experience, Mr. Verma brings a seasoned perspective on a wide range of issues influencing the growth of financial markets.   

Immediately prior to taking over as Managing Director & CEO of SBI Caps, Mr. Verma was President and Chief Operating Officer of the company. He was chiefly instrumental in managing the USD 100 mn venture capital fund of SBI Caps with Japan's Softbank Investment. 

A post graduate from Patna University, Mr. A. P. Verma has held a number of important positions in SBI. He was General Manager – International Banking Group at the Bank's Corporate Centre in Mumbai from Aug 2003 to Oct 2005. Earlier, he was also heading the Corporate Accounts Group Branch, Kolkata.
