CENTRAL ASSISTANCE TO BIHAR UNDER ARWSP

The Ministry of Rural Development has granted Rs.63.95 crore to the State Government of Bihar under the Revised Sub Mission Programme of Water Quality under Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water Mission (RGNDWM)-a Centrally Sponsored Programme of Accelerated Rural Water Supply Programme (ARWSP) during the current financial year (2007-08). The first installment of Rs.200.17 lakh i.e. 45% of GOI share of Rs.442.82 lakh is being released to tackle 11 Iron ore affected habitations spread over two districts of Purnea and Katihar. Secondly, Rs. 6194.83 lakh as part of first installment of Rs.12805.00 lakh i.e. 45% of total GOI share of Rs.28457.48 lakh is being released to tackle 551 Arsenic and Fluoride affected habitations spread over 19 districts of the state. The State Government will ensure to provide State share for implementation of projects and revised guidelines on Sub-Mission of water quality shall be followed
