Citizens of Bihar, India will get medical advice from qualified doctors of Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Mumbai through Telemedicine centre. The medical hub would be the first telemedicine centre in the state.
Doctors associated with the centre will help people to get specialised consultation from expert doctors in renowned institutions like Naray- ana Hrudayalaya in Bangalore, Apollo Hospital in Ahmedabad, Fortis Hospital in Delhi and Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai. This facility will help patients to save their money, time and unnecessary travel. People in need of specialised treatment that is not available in the state can approach teleconference with specialist in the fields of cardiology, neurology, orthopaedics and paediatrics. Firstly, the relevant health data of the patient would be considered. Then the data is transferred to the doctor or hospital concerned with a request for an appointment through videoconferencing. Telemedicine would involve information technology, communication technology, medical transcription and imaging technology to allow the patient and the doctors or the hospitals concerned to get in touch with each other. The minimum cost to avail the facility is around INR 2,000 per conference.

Rs.2000/- per consultation????
It would be interesting to know the numbers of paid consultations taken place so far and the profile of the patients.
In my opinion this is not a good news for Biharis.
If time and money spent in going for consultation to metro cities is taken into account, this project may get viable.
