PATNA: The state government has embarked on a path of phasewise revival of sugar industry in the state. According to a press release, issued by the information and public relations department (IPRD) on Monday, the government has set a deadline of February next year for leasing out 15 closed sugar factories and two distilleries to private investors. The IPRD release stated that the state government in its efforts to make this happen, on the one hand, announced the industrial incentive policy and on the other, roped in the services of SBI Caps for assessing the assets and liabilities of these units. It may be mentioned that the cabinet recently took a decision to start the tender process after which request for qualification was invited from interested parties to take the closed units on lease for a period of 60 years.
