Patna. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between Wockhardt Hospital Ltd. (WHL) and Hai Medicare Research Institute (HMRI) to establish a state of the art super speciality hospital in the capital here on Friday.
According to the MOU, the new hospital will have departments of cardiology and cardiac surgery, nephrology and urology including kidney transplant, neurology, and neurosurgery, orthopaedic surgery including joint replacement, general surgery and keyhole surgery.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr. Hai said that the agreement would fulfil his vision of seeing Patna as an emerging centre of excellence in medicines. He also said that the hospital will boast of eight operation theatres and forty beds for intensive care unit. Later it would be extended to four hundred beds where quality treatment at affordable price would be provided to patients.
Dr. Hai also said that the government has allotted over 35 acres of land near Digha to establish a minority medical college. It is proposed to set up a cluster of medical educational institutions which include dental and paramedical colleges and one nursing school in the campus. The new venture would ensure imparting technical skills and employment opportunities as well.
As WHL has been associated with Harvard Medical International, USA, the new HMRI Wockhardt Hospital shall have the benefit of latest technology available at USA.
