Ranchi, July 13: Over 250 more students from the state would get admission to BIT, Sindri, from this academic session with the state government turning down the proposal of Bihar to extend its quota in the institution further. "After thorough discussions in the department, we have decided not to extend the quota for Bihar students. All the 680 seats of BIT, Sindri, would be filled up by local students," said Arun Kumar, the director of technical education. Earlier, 251 seats were reserved for Bihar students in BIT, Sindri, following a Jharkhand High Court order as a temporary arrangement till Bihar revamped its technical education system. For aspirants, the Jharkhand government's decision holds much importance. The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board's counselling would be held this year from July 30 to August 16. The BIT, Sindri, seats are filled up fast during counselling as Jharkhand is still devoid of good private engineering colleges. An AICTE team is expected in the state to study the potential of proposed engineering colleges here. |
