NEW DELHI: Filmstar-turned politician Shatrughan Sinha has been assured a “seat of his choice” by the Bharatiya Janata Party for the coming Lok Sabha elections after he made it known in Patna that he would be satisfied only with the ticket for Patna Sahib.

Party leader Sushma Swaraj told reporters here on Tuesday Mr. Sinha could have the ticket of his choice.
Refuses to comment

“Whatever he wants he will get,” she said, amid reports that if denied his wish, he could look elsewhere. That speculation gathered momentum after Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh publicly offered to help Mr. Sinha with the ticket he wanted.

Party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad has refused to comment on this development although it is not denied by him or anyone else in the BJP that he also had his eye on this seat.
Recommendations

Ms. Swaraj said the BJP had promised Mr. Sinha the Lok Sabha ticket of his choice when the last Rajya Sabha election from Bihar took place.

At that time he was persuaded not to press for a Rajya Sabha seat.

With Mr. Sinha declaring his choice, the BJP thought it prudent to give him an assurance publicly, although the party’s Bihar election committee is yet to make its recommendations and the central election committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday and Thursday to finalise its list of candidates.
