Patna, Jan 22: The Railways have begun the process for a bullet train to run between Delhi and Patna, Railway Minister Lalu Yadav said on Thursday.
"We will introduce a bullet train between Delhi and Patna for which the Railways are going to appoint a consultant for presenting a feasibility report," Lalu, who is also the RJD chief, told a public meeting here.
A locomotive factory would be inaugurated at Marhaura in Chapra next month and an electric engine factory would be set up in Madhepura, which was hit by the floods of the Kosi, he said.
The union cabinet has given clearance to the Railways to set up seven factories at a cost of Rs 55,000 crore in the state, the minister said.
The Railways also took over two loss-making units of Bharat Wagon at Muzaffarpur and Mokama and also the Dalmiyanagar factory for revival, he said.
These projects would generate so much employment in next three years that youths of the state would not have to go outside the state in search of jobs and instead people from other states would come to Bihar for employment, Lalu claimed.
