Only God can help

COMPILED BY NIMI KURIAN

In a drive to make Bihar a crime-free state, the police have sought divine intervention by performing special prayers at the railway stations to prevent any wrongdoing on trains. Special prayers were organised by the government railway police (GRP) at the Ara railway station in Bhojpur district, about 60 km from here. To ensure smooth and peaceful travel in trains, officer-in-charge of the GRP Vinod Kumar, the brain behind the move to seek divine intervention, performs pra yers every full moon night (purnima). Rita Kumari, an officer-in-charge of the industrial area police station in Hajipur, the district headquarters of Vaishali, said, “We asked for God’s blessings to change the mindset of criminals. I strongly believe it (the prayers) will help create a crime-free society,” Kumari added.
