Bihar cabinet approves budget

The Bihar cabinet today gave its approval to the 2009-10 budget to be presented in the coming budget session of the state assembly, beginning February 24.

The cabinet also gave its nod for constructing'e-kisan' bhawans in 166 blocks of the state to help farmers, Principal Secretary, Cabinet and Coordination, Girish Shanker said here.

The state cabinet also sanctioned the release of Rs 202 crore for acquisition of land for Infrastructure Development Authority (IDA), Shanker said. The Governor';s speech to the joint session of state legislature, Third Supplementary Budget and Appropriation Bill has also been approved. To lessen the burden of the Vigilance Bureau and clear long pending cases on priority basis, 41 new posts would be created.

Recently, there has been an unprecedented rise in the number of public servants being caught by the Vigilance Bureau.
