LJP, RJD fail to reach agreement on seat-sharing in Bihar

New Delhi, Feb 18 The possibility of a UPA alliance in Bihar for the coming Lok Sabha elections appears dim with the allies continuing to lock horns over seat-sharing.
While LJP today again made it clear that it would not contest less than 16 of the total 40 seats, largest alliance partner RJD also stuck to its old stand that it won&apost compromise on its sitting seats.

"If an alliance happens in the state, we want 16 seats and not less than that. Otherwise my party LJP has already decided to go alone and field candidates in all 40 seats in the state,"LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan told PTI.

Senior RJD leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, however, expressed doubt over the winnable factor of candidates that the LJP leader is planning to field from the seats currently represented by the RJD.

"In the last election RJD contested 26 and won 22 thereby losing only about 15 per cent. Similarly Congress fought on four seats and won three maintaining same ratio of win and loss. But LJP contested on eight seats and lost four of them. Their loss ratio was fifty per cent. Before making claims, one has to keep into mind the winnable factor," Singh told reporters here.
