PATNA: Arch political rivals -- railway minister Lalu Prasad and CM Nitish Kumar -- appear to share common disdain for Valentine
Day.
Nitish refused to comment on it. "It is painful for me because I am a widower," Nitish told a section of media stressing that he was not the right person to talk about Valentine Day.
Lalu was more colourful in his comment. "I do not believe in Volatile (Valentine pun intended) culture," Lalu said when asked to comment on a cartoon depicting him (Lalu) as Valentine Baba offering flowers
to his wife Rabri Devi. He said that Indian culture did not allow such activities. "I and Rabri Devi are permanent husband and wife," he said.
Lalu said that even though he did not believe in Valentine Day, he will not oppose those who believed in the culture. "Let those who believe in that culture indulge in it. But I believe that the beauty of Indian women lies in the Pardah and Lajja," Lalu remarked.
