Patna (PTI): Seat sharing between the BJP and JD(U) for the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar and 14 seats in Jharkhand would be taken up following a discussion with senior BJP leader and in-charge Bihar affairs Arun Jaitley, state JD(U) President Rajeev Ranjan said on Monday.
Ranjan told reporters here that seat sharing with the saffron party in Jharkhand would be taken on the formula of Bihar and talks in this regard were in an advanced stage.
"We have staked claim on six seats in Jharkhand and the party has already submitted a list to the BJP. However, the final decision about contesting the seats in Jharkhand would be taken following talks with Arun Jaitely," the state JD(U) president said.
BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, who is party in-charge of election management committee for Jharkhand had said on February 28 that "Jharkhand is the number one state in our priority list and we would work hard for winning the maximum number of seats the party would contest."
"The scenario appears positive for the BJP, and the party with its allies will bounce back in Jharkhand," Swaraj had told a press conference in Ranchi.
