I tried in vain to dissuade Shekhar Suman from polls: Nitish

Patna (PTI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar tried to dissuade TV star Shekhar Suman from contesting against actor Shatrughan Sinha from the Patna Saheb constituency, but in vain.

"Suman called me up on Sunday and I tried my best to convince him not to contest against Shatrughan Sinha from the Patna Saheb seat, but he had probably made up his mind," Kumar told reporters.

"Though I enjoy good personal relations with Suman, I could not convince him (not to contest)," he said.

The Congress, according to media reports, has decided to field Suman of 'Pol Khol' fame against Sinha, who has been nominated by the BJP to contest the Patna Saheb seat.
