Bihar to have Officers' Training Academy soon

Dehradun: Bihar will soon have an Officers' Training Academy (OTA) on the lines of Chennai-based training institution for short service officers.

IMA Commandant Lt Gen RS Sujlana said that the Academy will impart training to the officers of the ranks of Captain and Major. The Academy will come up in the sprawling 600 acres of land in the Army Services Corps (North) in Gaya.

The defence ministry has for the last several years been planning to shift the ASC (North) to some other places. However, it was opposed by the state government. Now, according to reports the ASC will be accommodated somewhere within the state.

Gaya has a military station with facilities already existing there to have a training institution. But some important facilities such as swimming pool, physical training centres and war-training location for the cadets need to be put in place and the work has started to have them ready before the new OTA is commissioned.
