JD(U) MPs attend George’s tea party

Putting all bitterness behind, Janata Dal (United) MPs gathered at the Krishna Menon residence of George Fernandes on Thursday to greet him on his election to the Rajya Sabha. “We wish you success as a Rajya Sabha member,” JD(U) president Sharad Yadav told Fernandes. “It is not possible to match your services to the socialist movement in the country, as a founder member of the Janata Dal, as a parliamentarian, as minister for defence and Railways and as the convenor of the NDA,” he said.
Fernandes, weighed down by age and illness, sat on a sofa in his drawing room listening to the warm words from the party president, whose election to the post in his place had resulted in his exit from the JD(U).
